Our Story
Bloom Mandarin Studio began with a simple belief: children learn language best when they fall in love with the world behind it.
After years of teaching in Montessori classrooms and working closely with young children and families, I realized that language learning is about far more than vocabulary and pronunciation. It is about belonging, curiosity, confidence, and discovering another way of seeing the world.
Bloom was created to offer something different from a traditional language class—a calm, beautiful space where children experience Mandarin naturally through stories, music, art, hands-on exploration, and meaningful cultural traditions.
Inspired by Montessori principles and rooted in the timeless Chinese values of 仁 · 礼 · 尊 · 谦 (Kindness · Respect · Honor · Humility), every lesson is intentionally designed to nurture both language development and character growth.
At Bloom, children don’t simply learn Chinese—they discover the beauty of a culture, develop confidence through meaningful communication, and build a lifelong appreciation for learning.
Whether a child is taking their very first Mandarin class or beginning their literacy journey, our hope is that every family leaves with something more than language: a sense of connection, curiosity, and joy.

Meet Iris
When I first came to the United States as an immigrant, I worked hard to fit in.
Over time, I realized something important.
I didn’t need to become less Chinese to belong.
Instead, I could confidently embrace my own cultural identity—and invite others into its beauty.
That realization became the beginning of Bloom Mandarin Studio.
After earning my Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from The University of Texas at Austin and spending years teaching in Montessori classrooms, I came to believe that children learn language best not through memorization, but through meaningful experiences.
At Bloom, Mandarin comes alive through stories, music, art, traditions, hands-on work, and everyday moments of discovery.
I believe the best way to build bridges between cultures isn’t by hiding our differences, but by sharing them with openness, confidence, and joy.
My hope is that every child who walks through Bloom’s doors leaves not only speaking a little more Mandarin, but also carrying a deeper curiosity, appreciation, and connection to Chinese language, culture, and values.
Because language is more than words.
It is identity.
It is connection.
It is a way of seeing the world.
